Volunteer Opportunities
Which volunteering role is right for you?
We have over 150 amazing volunteers who take on a wide variety of roles, and we truly couldn’t deliver our services without them. Below you’ll find information about some of our role opportunities, but if you have a skill you feel could benefit our clients or charity, we’d love to hear from you.
This number is staffed on a part-time basis. Please leave a message on the answerphone and we will return your call as soon as possible.

Befrienders
Befrienders are matched with a client and visit them at home for around an hour to enjoy a cup of tea and a chat. Many of our clients are lonely, housebound, or lack the confidence to go out.
Befrienders take the time to get to know their client and offer companionship and something to look forward to. We ask for a commitment of at least six months, with regular visits (ideally once a week), allowing a meaningful relationship to develop.
DIY Volunteer
Are you handy around the house? Our DIY volunteers provide an ‘odd jobs’ service for older people, helping with tasks such as hanging curtain rails, repairing small items, or putting up coat hooks. This is an ad-hoc role, easy to fit in around your other commitments.
If you enjoy practical work and making a real difference, we’d love to add you to our list.
Drivers
Our drivers help transport clients to medical appointments or visits to family members in care. This is a very flexible role – some volunteers offer a regular time slot, while others help on an ad-hoc basis. The choice is yours.
You will need access to your own vehicle.
We also have a monthly Sunday driving role (2nd Sunday of the month), taking clients to our Sunday Tea at St. Mary the Virgin Worcester Park and home again afterwards. Drivers are not expected to stay for the event.
Fundraisers
As a self-funded charity, fundraising is essential to everything we do. Our fundraising team is creative, enthusiastic, and always looking for volunteers to help with events, promotions, and new ideas.
If you enjoy getting involved and helping generate vital funds, this could be the perfect role.
Hosting Fundraisers
If you’d like to host a fundraising event or take on a sponsored challenge, let us know – we’d be delighted to support you every step of the way.
Ambassador
Ambassadors help distribute our marketing materials in local community centres, GP surgeries, libraries, and other local venues to raise awareness of our services and events.
IT Support
If you have good IT skills and plenty of patience, you may enjoy supporting older people at home with their technology. We help with desktops, laptops, iPads, and mobile phones.
